Apparently, yes. This is what you have to do:

  1. Remember, the people in the audience are not here to make fun of you. Neither are they the panel of executioners waiting to debate the hour of your hanging. They are just curious about what you have to say. So just speak on the topic. If you’re not sure on how to get to point, start off on a casual note, such as , “So, as y’all know, I always used to get my schoolwork done by online assignment writing services, heh heh…” Something like that.

  2. Stop taking yourself seriously. Tell yourself stuff like, “Oh c’mon, everybody does it all the freaking time, even at the local clubs and drama houses. I am not setting out on some earth-shattering, path-breaking endeavor. Every Tom, Dick and Harry does it. It is THAT simple.

  3. Stop pressurizing yourself to sound ‘great’. This is quite difficult to avoid, especially when you have just watched a slew of people go up on that stage and make effective, eloquently and tightly woven speeches. It is indeed difficult to NOT feel pressurized by that. But when that happens, try a few breathing and relaxation techniques (you need to get good practice beforehand), and convince yourself that you do not need to use big words or the quotes of some eminent personality. Do not use formal language or speak in technical terms if you are not comfortable with it. Rather, just busy yourself with getting the point across. To the point’ and ‘upfront’ talk has its own charm, and it makes your way of speaking stand out from the rest of the identical styles.

  4. Last but not the least, concentrate only and only on the message that you are seeking to put across to the audience. Keep your mind off anything else, and do NOT let any anxiety of your parents/peers shake your self-confidence. Nobody knows you better than yourself, after all.
